Web Summit is the one week a year when a large share of Europe’s founders are in the same city. The problem is scale: a room of six hundred people is a good place to collect business cards and a bad place to have a real conversation.

6 Founders runs the opposite format. Six verified company founders, one restaurant table, one evening. We match on stage, industry and language, book the restaurant, and send you the address. You just turn up.

During Web Summit week we’re seating tables every night from Monday to Thursday, plus the Thursday before for anyone arriving early. Thursday 12 November is the last day of the conference. Most people fly home on the Friday, which makes that final dinner the one where the week’s real conversations happen.

You don’t need a Web Summit ticket. You need to be a founder, and to be in Lisbon.

Night Summit, the official evening programme

Night Summit is Web Summit’s own after-hours programme. It runs each evening of the conference, partly onsite at Pavilion 5 and partly across bars and restaurants around the city, with a heavy centre of gravity around Cais do Sodré and Pink Street.

It’s worth doing at least once. It’s also loud, crowded, and optimised for volume rather than depth. You’ll meet forty people and remember four. The best use of Night Summit is as a warm-up: find the people you want to actually talk to, then get them to a table.

That’s the gap a founder dinner fills. Do Night Summit early in the evening, and dinner after.

Making Web Summit evenings count as a founder

  • Book dinners before you land. The good tables in Lisbon are gone by late October during Web Summit week. Anything worth going to is booked in advance, and that includes ours.
  • Choose depth over volume. One dinner with the right six people is worth more than three parties. You have four evenings; spend at least two of them at a table.
  • Know where things happen. Night Summit gravity is Cais do Sodré and Pink Street. The dinners worth having are in Alfama, Príncipe Real and Santos, a short walk or cab away. Don’t book a hotel out by the venue in Parque das Nações and expect to see any of it.
  • Track the side-event calendar. sideevents.guide and Luma are the two places organisers actually list things. Both fill up through October.
  • Stay for Thursday night. The conference ends on Thursday 12 November and most people fly out Friday morning. Thursday evening is quieter, the serious people are still around, and it’s the night the week pays off.
  • Say what you’re building in one sentence. You will be asked two hundred times. Have it ready.

Whatever else you go to, keep at least one evening for a proper dinner. It’s the one thing about the week that’s better small.

No. The dinners are independent of the conference. If you are a founder and you are in Lisbon that week, you can request a seat.

We are seating tables every night of Web Summit week, Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November, plus Thursday 5 November for early arrivals. Tell us which nights you are in town when you request a seat and we will match you to one.

€20 a seat, which covers verifying and curating the table and booking the restaurant. You pay the restaurant directly for food and drinks.

Six verified company founders, including you. We match on stage, industry and language, and we do not seat recruiters, agencies or sales teams. Everyone at the table is building something.

Your choice of English or Portuguese. We seat you with a table speaking the same language.

Good restaurants across Lisbon, close to where the week happens. We send the address the day before.
